Monte Holmwood (1879-1945)

Monte Holmwood was an Australian cricketer, born in Gundagai on September 26, 1879. He played as a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler for New South Wales and Australia at the international level. Holmwood was instrumental in Australia's victory over England in the 1903-1904 Ashes series.

Eric Weissel (1907-1996)

Neale Daniher (born 1961)

Neale Daniher is an Australian rules football player, coach, and advocate for motor neurone disease research. Born on February 15, 1961, in Ungarie, New South Wales (near Gundagai), Daniher had a successful playing career with the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He went on to become a highly regarded coach at the Melbourne Football Club. Since being diagnosed with motor neurone disease, Daniher has become an influential campaigner for raising awareness and funds to find a cure.

Doug Walters (born 1945)

Doug Walters is a former Australian cricketer, born on December 21, 1945, in Dungog, New South Wales. While not born in Gundagai, Walters spent a significant part of his early life there. He represented Australia in Test cricket as a talented middle-order batsman and occasional medium-pace bowler. Walters achieved several notable performances throughout his career, including a remarkable century on his Ashes debut in 1965.
