Events in and around Gundagai

As the seasons change, so do the opportunities for fun and exciting events in the beautiful region of Gundagai, New South Wales. From outdoor festivals and sporting events to indoor art exhibits and cultural celebrations, the area offers a variety of activities to enjoy throughout the year. Here are just a few of the many seasonal events in and around Gundagai.

Spring:
Spring is an exciting time in Gundagai, as the weather warms up and the flowers start to bloom. One of the most popular events in the area is the Gundagai Rodeo & Campdraft Association’s Spring Rodeo, which takes place in late October. This two-day event features bull riding, barrel racing, and other traditional rodeo events, as well as a live music performance.

Another springtime event is the Gundagai District Services Club’s Annual Garden Competition, which invites local residents to showcase their green thumbs and compete for prizes in a variety of categories. Categories include Best Front Garden, Best Vegetable Patch, and Best Edible Container Garden.

Summer:
When the summer rolls around, Gundagai comes alive with a slew of outdoor festivals and events. One of the most popular is the Gundagai Show, which takes place in January and features carnival rides, animal shows, and exhibits showcasing the best of local crafts, food, and art.

In February, the Gundagai District Services Club hosts its annual Fishing Classic, a two-day competition for fishing enthusiasts of all skill levels. Prizes are awarded for the biggest catches, and there are plenty of opportunities to socialize and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Autumn:
As the leaves start to turn in the fall, Gundagai celebrates with a variety of cultural and artistic events. The Gundagai Regional Arts Exhibition is a particularly exciting event, featuring works by local painters, photographers, and artisans. The exhibition typically takes place in late March or early April and draws visitors from all over the region.

Another popular autumn event is the Gundagai Heritage Festival, which celebrates the rich history of the region with a variety of fun and educational activities. There are historical talks, guided tours, and events showcasing traditional crafts and skills.

Winter:
When the temperatures drop, Gundagai residents still find plenty of ways to have fun. One beloved annual event is the Gundagai Winter Ball, a formal social event featuring live music, dancing, and elegant attire. There’s also the Gundagai Art Exhibition, which showcases the work of local artists in a variety of mediums.

Finally, the Gundagai District Services Club’s Annual General Meeting takes place in July, providing an opportunity for club members to voice their opinions and vote on important issues.
